Eels.

Hello Cruel World - E

(from the album A Man Called E ... which is not a Eels album)

Presenting E to you!
The sound is already catchy.
The guy seems promising.
If you knew the next part as good as me, you'd just read this and smile!

After this song, I'm gonna try not to fling-flung from one Eels' album to the other otherwise it's gonna be total chaos! But you know me, arhem... I just like to haunt Youtube and this is self-explanatory, hahaha!

Thank you for stopping by this section!
Hope to see you again!
Peace.

Hey! Hop in the first album and the first track! The ultimate first impression. I know it's stupid but I prefered to post a live version. Firstly, it has a little early biography-summary in french at the beginning - the accent is hilarious, that's "parigo" I can't stop laughing when says 'Novocahine fer ze soul'! And secondly because it has some weird effects and power going on. (Oh and thirdly, but that's personnal .... : they're all dyed yellow! I mean how brilliant is that?) Anyway, if you're still in doubt, just follow the youtube links and search for the studio version!

Oh one other alarming thing here. Here the live is very similar to the studio version. Why am I saying that? Well with the years... Eels have now this bitching habbit to rediscover their songs and play it as they like on stage! A Eels song on an album is NOT a Eels live song! Mark my words, you'll see later if you're attentive and/or curious!

life is hard
and so am i
you'd better give me something
so i don't die

novocaine for the soul
before i sputter out

life is white
and i am black
jesus and his lawyer
are coming back
oh my darling
will you be here
before i sputter out

guess whose living here
with the great undead
this paint-by-numbers life
is fucking with my head
once again

life is good
and i feel great
'cause mother says i was
a great mistake

novocaine for the soul
you'd better give me something
to fill the hole
before i sputter out

Susan's House

(From the album Beautiful Freak)

Second track of this album. Can you feel this vibe? The bass line, the piano, the slam-lyrics? I mean, this feels like an invitation to improvize, to do like E : invent your own little freak world and speak it out. The ambiance is tremendous, this guy bears a lot but he gives us really deep music. I think this album is very sarcastic - like some sort of self-inflicted irony. It's strong, everybody has those feelings one day. He experienced them for us to hear. Give it a closer look, a better hear.

going over to susan's house
walking south down baxter street
nothing hiding behind this picket fence
there's a crazy old woman smashing bottles
on the sidewalk where her house burnt down two years ago
people say that back then she really wasn't that crazy

going over to susan's house
going over to susan's house
she's gonna make it right

down by the donut prince
a fifteen year old boy lies on the sidewalk
with a bullet in his forehead
in a final act of indignity
the paramedics take off all his clothes
for the whole world to see
while they put him in the bag
meanwhile an old couple argues inside the queen bee
the sick fluorescent light shimmering on their skin

going over to susan's house
going over to susan's house
i can't be alone tonight

t
ake a left down echo park
a kid asks do i want some crack
tv sets are spewing baywatch
through the windows into black

here comes a girl with long brown hair
who can't be more than seventeen
she sucks on a red popsicle while she pushes a baby girl
in a pink carriage
and i'm thinking that must be her sister
that must be her sister, right?
they go into the 7-11
and i keep walking

going over to susan's house
